  Frequently Asked Questions
Many people wonder about the same sorts of things, and so we've laid out answers to some of the most frequent questions we hear.

Is the ride "hilly"?
The Gettysburg Battlefield is relatively flat, with "rolling hills." There are three prominent hills. They are Culp's Hill and Little and Big Round Tops. Our standard tour only goes up Little Round Top. We will only go up Big Round Top and Culp's Hill if you request it during a private tour.

How long is the tour? How many miles is it?
The tour lasts about 3 hours and covers roughly 10 miles.

What time do your tours go out?
As of now, tours are not regularly scheduled. Therefore, when you call, if there isn't a tour already scheduled on the date you are interested in, we will have to arrange one. Please be aware that, by federal law, we must hire a Licensed Battlefield Guide to take you on your tour. Our guides are friendly, professional and knowledgeable, but they also have busy schedules. Therefore, we may not always be able to arrange a tour on the date and at the time you request. Calling as far in advance as possible betters our chances, but we still cannot guarantee any particular date or time.

Can we have a picnic in the middle of the tour?
Absolutely! However, we will need to know that you plan to do this so we can tell the guide to keep an extra hour open. If you don't bring your own food, we can place an order with a local restaurant for you. (We love new ideas. So, don't be afraid to ask if we can make one of yours a reality.)

What should we bring on the tour?
Gettysburg has some of the prettiest landscapes you can find, so a camera is definitely recommended. In addition to that, sunscreen should be worn, and we also recommend plenty of water as it tends to get hot here in the summer.

Is a bike tour better than a tour in a car or bus?
We know it is. Having taken tours by car, bus, horse and on foot, we knew when we opened that this is the best and most satisfying way to see the battlefield. A tour by any other vehicle takes 2 hours and you get a overview of the battle, at best. With a bike, you feel the terrain the soldiers tread upon. You can smell the fresh Pennsylvania air as it gently blows over your face as you ride. But most of all, on our tours you have a Licensed Battlefield Guide all to yourself. A CD recording cannot replace interaction with an expert guide. We are proud to boast that virtually all of our customers who have taken a tour have said that it was the best way to see the battlefield and that they would never go by car or bus the next time they visit.

Gettysburg is a special place in our country's political and spiritual history.
We are privileged to help you tour these hallowed grounds on a bicycle, which we feel will
greatly enhance your Gettysburg experience. In doing so, please be respectful of all National Park Service rules.
